Welcome from Our Founder

Bienvenidos and thank you for visiting 1823 Central American Coffee.

My name is Bertrand, and I’m a first-generation Honduran-American, born and raised in Los Angeles. I founded this company to honor the legacy of my family, our culture, and the generations of resilience that came before us.

1823 isn’t just a name—it’s a tribute to the year the United Provinces of Central America were formed. It represents unity, identity, and a deep pride in where we come from. Through this coffee, we’re telling the story of Central America— from Chiapas, MX to Panama—one cup at a time.

Every bean we offer is organic, traceable, and responsibly sourced, but more importantly, it’s filled with purpose. This is coffee rooted in heritage, crafted with care, and meant to bring people together.

I’m a proud graduate of the University of Southern California, where I earned a B.S. in Public Policy, Management, and Planning, with a minor in Public Health. My academic and professional journey reflects a deep interest in international business, uplifting communities, and building strong local economies—values that guide the heart of this company.

1823 is my way of combining those passions—creating opportunities, celebrating culture, and building lasting connections.

As we grow, I’m especially excited to meet our clients, collaborators, and partners—those who share our values and vision. Thank you for being part of this journey.

Con cariño,
